Global overview
The year 2010 saw the global economy begin to recover from its steep decline in 2009. Global advertising recorded the largest year-on-year swing in 2010, rebounding to a 7.1 percent growth in 2010. Consumer/end-user spending increased by 4.4 percent, bringing a rise in the global entertainment and media market to 5.3 percent overall.
In addition to the strong rebound in advertising, the ongoing shift to digital formats continued in 2010. Internet access spending rose by 9.2 percent in 2010 and we expect this sector to continue its growth to 2015 at an annualised growth rate of 8.6 percent.
The global consumer/end-user spending market is expected to grow from $950 billion in 2010 to $1.27 trillion in 2015, increasing on average by 5.9 percent per annum.
The global advertising market is expected to grow from $434 billion in 2010 to $588 billion in 2015, increasing on average by 6.2 percent per annum.
